Letter: Angel Tree a huge success

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

The Gloucester Department of Social Services would like to thank the members of our community for their generosity this holiday season, as The Angel Tree Project was a huge success once again.

Thanks to the considerable donations, gifts were provided to not only the foster children in Gloucester County but also for the surrounding counties of Middlesex, Mathews, King and Queen and King William. The commitment to helping foster youth in our community, as well as the surrounding communities, is greatly appreciated.

A special and warm appreciation to Bill Hudgins who began this tradition 21 years ago, which now includes several local businesses: Brad Hudgins and Luella Manning of Hudgins GMC, Ruth Kean of Walter Reed Hospital, Ben Lennon of Lennon Dental Center, Chesapeake Bank, and Mr. and Mrs. Mitch Dunston from the Abingdon Ruritan Club, who not only raise donations, but also provide a magical evening full of holiday fun for all of the foster children.
