Letter: An unsettling encounter

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Usually my letters in this newspaper are thanking people for their kindness and generosity supporting our Meals on Wheels program or the Child Nutrition Program for Mathews County Public Schools, but this time my letter is of a different nature.

I grew up in Mathews County and my husband of 42 years loves Mathews just as I do. My children were raised here and graduated from Mathews High School and love it just as we do. They graduated and found occupations that took them elsewhere to live, but come home with their families as often as they can and love every minute of it. I have many friends that grew up here in the same situation with their children having been raised here but love to “come home.” Those of us that live here are so blessed to call this place home.
