Editor, Gazette-Journal:
I found the editorial in last week’s Gazette-Journal, “A modest proposal,” an excellent idea. The proposal addresses all of the major issues of the highly debated topic of the Confederate memorial located on county property. You stated, and I quote, “Last year, Mathews County voters overwhelmingly said they wanted the Confederate monument to stay right where it is.” I urge the readers to read the entire editorial, if you missed it, or perhaps read it a second time.
The “modest proposal” could be a solution to the current controversy and establish the groundwork for future disputes.
