Editor, Gazette-Journal: ICE detention facilities are America’s concentration camps. They are holding upwards of 70,000 people in custody—people who overall were hardworking, tax-paying neighbors to many of us. It’s important to note that these are not the “worst of the worst” and the majority of them do not have a criminal record. At least 55 people have died in these concentration camps since Trump put Stephen Miller in charge of immigration enforcement policies. Four people, including two U.S. citizens, have been gunned down on American streets by ICE agents or Customs and Border Protection and so far, no one is being held accountable.
