Letter: America doesn’t need ERA

The Equal Rights Amendment, first proposed in 1972, was never ratified … and for good reason. First, it isn’t needed. Second, it would have added more problems for all of us and America doesn’t need that. We invent too many problems already.

As a 75-year-old female that worked most of my adult life married to a career Marine and raised three children while usually working full time, that glass ceiling was an invention of angry women who seemed to believe that because there were more men in charge than women, it had to be due to discrimination by sex. Sometimes it may have been that way, but what I witnessed was different.

Friends of mine who studied, earned their degree, and knew what teamwork was did very well over the years. Many of them also had a family and they didn’t seek that overrated place in the corporate world as they knew what it would do to them and their family time.
