Letter: Again, what am I missing?

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

In a previous letter to the editor, I asked, “What am I missing?” A recent correspondent to this forum questioned the premise of my letter, as well as the veracity of my claim to America being the greatest experiment for the betterment of the common man that the world has yet to equal.

In my long life, nearly 79 years currently, I have traveled extensively throughout the world in both naval service as well as that of a civilian mariner and I have yet to witness a system better than what we have. As I wrote, in spite of its shortcomings, it exceeds anything that I have witnessed or experienced.

As to the premise of my previous letter, “What am I missing?” At a time when the county’s GDP is collapsing, debt spinning out of control, interest rates at zero and a virus running amok, just why are so many attempting to ferment racial animosity?
