Letter: Addressing school bullying

As anyone who watches television knows, bullying is a major problem in many school systems. Parents want to know what to do to prevent it and also want to know what the schools are doing to monitor and address the issues, should they arise.

With that in mind, the Mathews County Special Education Advisory Committee has invited Denise McCuistion, school counselor at Thomas Hunter Middle School, to speak at the October meeting about bullying and how this problem is addressed in Mathews County schools.

The next meeting of the Mathews County Special Education Advisory Committee will be held on Thursday, Oct. 20 in the Heritage Conference Room of the Mathews Memorial Library. The meeting will begin at 4 p.m.
