Editor, Gazette-Journal: This letter is to recognize the above-and-beyond-the-call-of-duty work by many of the drivers of Bay Transit here in Gloucester and Mathews. Yesterday, Feb. 3, I once again benefitted from and witnessed an example of this extraordinary commitment and effort by a Bay Transit driver, Mr. S. I was waiting for a ride at Walmart to go home and after waiting for some time went and asked Mr. S., who was parked there, if he would please check with the Bay Transit dispatcher to determine if a pickup time for me had been determined and, if so, what was that time? Mr. S. contacted the dispatcher and was told my pickup time was still in the works. Mr. S.’s next scheduled pickup was almost an hour away, so he very graciously volunteered to take me home, to which the dispatcher agreed.
