Letter: Abolish the IRS; enact the Fair Tax

We are deep into this election cycle and you have undoubtedly heard the constant drone from the socialist democrats about people paying their fair share of taxes.  Yeah … you hear their useful idiots shout out. So, let’s just see what that truly means. The following data is from 2011 tax year:

The top 10 percent of wage earners making greater than $120,000 adjusted gross income (AGI) paid 68.3 percent of all taxes collected.

The top 50 percent of wage earners making more than $34,823 AGI paid 97.1 percent of all taxes collected.

This means the bottom 50 percent is left to pay 2.9 percent. With earned income tax credits, you not only get back every dime you paid in, but a substantial amount of what “I” paid in. So, tell me again, who is and is not paying “their fair share?”
