Letter: A visit from the Godspeed

On behalf of the Mathews Land Conservancy, I would like to thank everyone who visited and enjoyed the Godspeed at Williams Wharf last weekend. As per our mission, we were happy to host this exciting and educational event for our county that was free and open to the public. Special thanks go out to the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, the Yorktown Victory Center, Captain Eric Speth and the crew of the Godspeed, as well as Nancy Welch and the Mathews County School System for their partnership in providing this wonderful, educational event for the children and citizens of Mathews County and beyond.

Thanks also go to Pam Muffelman and the Mariners’ Museum for providing the fantastic exhibit, "When We Belonged to England," in the Community Building at Williams Wharf. An added bonus was the information provided by Forrest Morgan and the Middle Peninsula chapter of the Archeological Society of Virginia.
