Letter: A traffic accident waiting to happen

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

The Main Street Center in Gloucester has become increasingly active with the addition of the post office and library. Because of concrete barriers recently placed in the laundry parking lot, the only egress from the center heading east is to make a left turn across traffic onto Routes 17/14.

This is an uncontrolled exit and can be very dangerous at times of heavy traffic. A serious accident is bound to occur. Either a traffic light should be installed there or those concrete barriers removed.

While I am aware that the laundry lot is private property, if a light is not feasible, those barriers must still be removed in the interest of safety. Should it become necessary to control that property through eminent domain, then that is what should be done. It is imperative that a safe exit eastbound from the Main Street Center be obtained.
