Letter: A sustainable threat

Several years ago, a local citizens group sponsored a series of presentations to raise awareness of what is now becoming a governing policy. That policy is the growing implementation and influence of sustainable development, Agenda 21, a plan put forth by the United Nations to herd the human race into compact communities, negate property rights and promote global governance.

At this point in time, the new post-2015 agenda is not completely established for sustainable development, the code word for a statist planned economy and population control. Thus far, 17 sustainable development goals have been proposed to replace the millennium development goals that are about to soon expire. We can expect to hear about this in the fall of this year when this plan will be publicly discussed by its promoters, but only after the agenda is firmly set in stone.
