Letter: A spicy success

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Saturday night was another amazing night in Mathews! The MVRS Chili Cook-Off was a great success thanks to our sponsors, the participating organizations and the generous support of the people of Mathews and Gloucester!

More than 500 attendees tasted fantastic chili, cornbread and desserts, and many took quarts home for their Super Bowl parties on Sunday. Special thanks go to Lynne Davenport of Lynne’s Family Restaurant and Richardson’s who once again donated all the paper products, tableware, cornbread, brownies and Charlotte’s special bread pudding!

Also, thanks to our very own special group—the MVRS Auxiliary—who is always there to help us! Our three professional judges were again outstanding—Chief Judge Betty Wrenn Day, Judge Mark Letchworth and Judge Mark Maland.

There were too many others to thank here, so we have an ad in this week’s Gazette-Journal with the names of individuals and businesses who supported us...
