A pivotal budget decision

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Next week, the Mathews Board of Supervisors will vote on a county budget that will decide the future of our schools, and, to a great extent, the future of our workforce, community leadership and our economy.

For less than a dollar a day, residents and second-home owners can help secure the quality of our teachers, opportunities for our children and the value of an essential education for the next generation in Mathews.

This is in the interest of all those who live and work or have homes in Mathews, and opportunities will be lost to all of us if we accept the lowering of standards and support our children deserve.
