Letter: A perfect day for Rotary’s Oyster, BBQ Riot

The day was perfect: a slight nip in the autumn air, sun shining brightly, the smell of wood fire wafting over the event, toe tapping music creating the atmosphere, delicious food, great conversations with old friends, and wonderful Rotary hospitality throughout the event.

Of course I am talking about the experience of those who attended the Mathews Rotary’s Oyster and BBQ Riot held on Oct. 25. We have so many people to thank for making this first (now annual) Oyster and BBQ Riot a rousing success. We could not have had such an enjoyable event without the donated services and products of many generous Mathews businesses and organizations.

Some of those we need to recognize are: Sterling Hudgins at M&M Building Supply, Ron Sopko of Sea Farms, Inc., Bert and Thomas Cross, Mike McDevitt & Friends, and Jean and Steve Roberts of Feral Cat Society. Charlie and Vicki Carter made sure the oysters were roasted and food service moved efficiently.  P...
