Letter: A looming bill is growing

The current situation with the Gloucester board of supervisors dealing with the budget is the same old thing we have been hearing for several years. Some of the supervisors are singing the same song every year “we have to cut waste and improve efficiency.” The first year some of these people were in office I could understand them saying that. The second year it seems they should have fixed the waste and inefficiency the first year so if it is still there, then they didn’t do their job. Certainly, the third year it would seem when they are still talking about the waste and inefficiency, then they are responsible for not fixing it in year one.

One of the supervisors brags in his newsletter how he is keeping the property taxes low. What he isn’t telling you is how this is hurting the county. As our schools are underfunded, our county services are underfunded and there is not enough money to maintain our infrastructure as it should. A loom...
