Letter: A little cleaner

On Monday, Aug. 5, about 70 young people and their adult leaders from Gloucester’s Verge Youth Church and the Cornerstone Church in Mathews showed up in four minibuses at the Gloucester Clean Community to begin a day of picking up litter.

By the end of the day, the group of young people had collected 95 orange bags of litter plus lumber, a 4x4 signpost, a bicycle, bucket and other assorted trash and debris—an estimated 3,000 pounds in all. On behalf of the county residents, the entire Gloucester County Clean Community Committee extends a heartfelt "Thank You" to the Verge Youth Church and the Cornerstone Church for their efforts.

VDOT collected all the bags and trash by the end of the day Tuesday. I’d like to extend a "Thank You" to Kevin Sears and the crew at Gloucester VDOT for their help in this effort.
