Letter: A lifesaving service

This communication is written to acknowledge the excellent service by Mrs. Brenda Dixon, a retired nurse with more than 35 years of service, who took the initiative to learn how the organization which she serves as president could get a supply of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine.

A number of African American citizens who qualified to receive the vaccine were having problems getting the vaccine, so Dixon took a proactive approach and contacted the Virginia Department of Health. The Virginia Health Department delivered a supply of the vaccine in a timely fashion. There were instructions and details that needed to be accomplished and paperwork that had to be completed.

Mrs. Dixon immediately began to recruit volunteer caregivers for the project. Members who were selected were carefully screened. Fortunately Brenda had many good contacts based on her many years of having worked in the health field.
