Letter: A lesson in community

The General Anthony Wayne Disabled American Veterans Chapter 58 would like to thank Brownie Troop 1195 for their recent community project. These young girls developed and coordinated with the help of their leaders a “Sock Box” collection for the men and women veterans of the VA Medical Center Hampton.

This community service project provided them with a valuable lesson in sharing and a lesson in community. These lessons will be with them for the rest of their lives. We would also like to thank the Silver Box jewelry store located on Main Street in Gloucester for providing a collection point for the socks.

If it wasn’t for businesses like the Silver Box, these activities would be impossible. Lastly, but not least, we would like to thank the community for donating over 200 pairs of new socks.
