Letter: A helping hand with no judgment

I wanted to give a special “shout out” to the folks over at Hands Across Mathews. Being recently “down on my luck,” I found myself in line for the food bank on a Wednesday morning.

Ashamed to be in this boat, the folks volunteering their time there could not have been more supportive ... and I felt no judgment from them at all.  These people deserve the highest praise possible.

I happened to mention to the woman checking my ticket that I didn’t have a bed, and without hesitation she immediately put me in touch with a gentleman who took me into the back storage area and got a bed for me.  (I ended up returning the bed as I found out later I will be relocating to another area and will not need it, but nonetheless, their generosity in donating it to me is beyond my best words!)

These people give without expecting anything in return, and the kindness and support shown to the citizens of this town is beyond words.  For...
