Letter: A healthy initiative

Before last Saturday, we had not seen a Gloucester Farmers’ Market in many years. The Ware Episcopal Church graciously hosted an outdoor market, providing opportunities for local farmers to sell their produce and for gifted folks to offer their creations in the realm of practical arts. I saw not a crowd of people, but a steady flow of customers meandering around the booths and making purchases.

This event brought together people who work locally every day and in that work bring charm and value to the life we know on Middle Peninsula. In a way it was a celebration of tenacity and talent. A gentle ambiance shrouded the entire market area, a simple aura of welcome.

Most of the vendors who spoke with me intend to return to the next market day. It is scheduled for the second Saturday in June at the same location. Any person who goes there will see amazing items for sale and meet lovely people. Also the parking and access is impeccably organized.
