A friend in need. Most of us will find ourselves needing one, and yesterday, that person was my mother.

The day before Mother’s Day, while talking on the phone to her friend Judy Wheeler, Mom had a stroke. Judy noticed her speech had changed before the phone went silent. Judy sensed trouble and, not being able to contact my brother working in Mom’s yard, drove to her house, found her, then alerted my brother. Fast action by the Harcum EMS, a helicopter ride and Riverside Hospital make this letter a good one. Thank you.

Seniors need daily contact with someone, not only for the social interaction, but for safety. My mother might not be here doing well on Mother’s Day if not for a friend in deed.
