Letter: A day late and a dollar short

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

While our neighboring counties in the Three Rivers Health District are getting their citizens vaccinated, Gloucester citizens are still waiting. Hats off to Riverside physicians who are taking the lead.

Yes, the call center is necessary but what the people really want is a date and a time to get their vaccination. Warsaw has held at least seven drive-thru vaccination events, Saluda had one, Mathews had one vaccination site at Thomas Hunter Middle School and Middlesex had three drive-thru vaccination events and one vaccination event in the high school for the teachers. York County teachers have been vaccinated as well as Williamsburg and Newport News.

Even with the shortages, other localities are getting their citizens vaccinated. People of color, people with no health insurance, our watermen, our farmers, our elders and many others are unaware of how to proceed. People are told to go to this website and then wait.
