Letter: A community comes together

On behalf of the Salem United Methodist Church Evangelism Team, we graciously appreciate the love and support we received from the Mathews community including the Mathews Ministerial Association.

The Mathews Community-Wide Tent Meeting Revival was a huge success due to the support and attendance of approximately 100-150 people nightly on June 6-8. Financial proceeds and canned goods collected nightly will be donated to Hands Across Mathews and the nightly collection of toiletry items will be donated to the Avalon Center for their women’s shelter.

We were greatly blessed by the powerful spirit-filled messages from Rev. Jonathan Waldon of First Baptist Church, Pastor Patrick Billups of Relevant Church and Rev. Kevin English of Salem UMC each night. Outstanding music was organized by Lynda Smith Greve which included a Community Choir formed especially for the event, Emmanuel UMC Choir, Rev.
