Letter: A barroom brawl

Editor, Gazette-Journal:
A naval officer who participated in the First Battle of Guadalcanal in 1942 described it as a “barroom brawl where someone shot out the lights.” This is an apt description of the 2016 presidential campaign process from the start of the primary season to the present. In this campaign there have been no lights, just indiscriminate attacks on friend and foe alike with no thought for the consequences.
The people who voted for Donald Trump in the primary process had to know that these attacks were coming. If you voted for Mr. Trump in the primary you had better not be backing out now. Mr. Trump bragged about this nonsense in a public forum, and that behavior has now been testified to by people who say they were on the receiving end of his attentions. These attacks were coordinated by the media to destroy the Trump candidacy, but that does not mean they are false. They have not been proven yet either, and the media waited until the last minute to release ...
