King David in the Bible (aka shepherd boy, giant killer) was a really nasty fella in spite of his heroic exploits. A peeping Tom (II Samuel 11:2), a rapist (II Samuel 11:4). The Bible doesn’t say He raped Bathsheba, but I think as King, his power meant she couldn’t say no. A murderer, II Samuel 11:15. He even gave his victim his death sentence to give to the executioner (unbeknown to said victim). Had an innocent man executed on the testimony of one (II Samuel 1:15). Was a land pirate, raiding villages and taking plunder, animals (sheep, cattle, donkeys and camels) and clothes while killing every man and woman alive so no one could testify (I Samuel 27:9). This was not a military offensive; it was grand theft and murder of innocent civilians.
But the Bible tells a curious thing about David. In both the Old and New Testament it says, “David was a man after God’s own heart!” I Samuel 13:14, Acts 13:22.
