Letter: Improving internet service in Gloucester

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Approximately two years ago, your paper ran a story seeking volunteers for a Gloucester County Telecommunications committee. The number of applicants exceeded the proposed size so all were invited to take part. Since its inception the committee, under the leadership of Assistant County Administrator Carol Steele, has met monthly to tackle the issues of providing internet and other related services to all residents of the county. These meetings prior to the pandemic were open to the public and now are virtual.

In many editions your paper has carried stories on the efforts in Mathews to undertake a similar task. The committee would like to update the residents of Gloucester on what has occurred in this county. Articles have appeared in the Beehive documenting progress but much more has been going on.
