LESSIE MARZELLE CRAWFORD

Lessie Marzelle Crawford, 88, of Gloucester Point, died at her home Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017.

Lessie was born in Alabama to the late Ernest and Wilma Gunter. She had been a waitress at Nick’s Seafood Pavilion which was a fabulous restaurant located in Yorktown. She was a waitress there for 24 years and enjoyed talking to all the people who came from near and far to dine at Nick’s.

Lessie loved her children and never met a stranger. Our mother will always be in our hearts and thoughts.

She was preceded in death by parents; husband, John “Jay” Crawford; son, Ronnie Key, and daughters, Sue Walker and Janice Whitehurst.

She is survived by her children, Jerry Gunter (Nancy), Rhonda Palauba, Gary Key (Linda), Sandra Ridley, Wanda Stewart (David), Paul Sharpe and Lisa Fisher (Lynn); a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her wonderful friend, Alice Parkinson.

Graveside funeral service conducted by the Rev. Garry Livermon was at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at Peninsula Memorial Park Cemetery, Newport News. Family and friends assembled at the cemetery.
