LESLIE LEROY TURNER JR.

Leslie "Les" Leroy Turner Jr., 64, of Mathews, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2011, with his best friend and loving wife, Yvonne, by his side.

Les was born on May 4, 1946. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie Leroy Turner Sr. and wife, Catherine Turner.

Les is survived by his wife, Yvonne Outlaw Turner; two sons, Leslie Leroy Turner III, and wife Wendy of Gwynn’s Island, Va.; and Wesley Allen Turner of Mathews, Va.; a daughter, Connirae Turner of Manassas, Va.; and his sister, Carol Huggins and husband Sammy of Hampton, Va.; and mother and father-in-law, Larry and Marie Brewer of Williamsburg.

Les worked as a brickmason with Colonial Williamsburg. He was a great outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting with family and friends. Antique Farmall Tractors became his hobby in recent years. He loved restoring and then showing them at tractor pulls throughout Virginia and Maryland, winning many trophies and awards.

Les was a special friend to many and mentor to Shawn Phelps and Dereck Zwiers whom he loved as his own.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 8, from 6-8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. A memorial and celebration of his life will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home on Saturday, April 9, at 2 p.m.
