Leonard Joseph Carter, 79, of Hayes, died Jan. 22, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Leonard retired from the U.S. Army as a security guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Dolores Carter.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia W. Carter; daughter, Yvonne C. Rasmussen (Chuck Jr.); granddaughter, Rebekah Rasmussen; niece, Margaret E. Riggs, and nephews, Lee and James Riggs.

A funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Ann Tang at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, at Salem United Methodist Church, Gloucester. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family would like to thank the nurses and aides with Riverside Walter Reed Hospice for their wonderful care of our loved one.
