Lena Virginia Hughes, 86, of Onemo, Va., passed away on July 12, 2015.

Mrs. Hughes was a member of Mathews Baptist Church and active in many ministries of the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irving E. Hughes Sr., and her son, Charles E. Hughes; a sister, Janette Hudgins, and a brother, Floyd E. Hudgins Jr.

She is survived by her son, the Rev. Everett Hughes (Nancy); a daughter-in-law Marie Hughes; four grandchildren, Irving E. Hughes III, Virginia H. Lawhead, Donna H. Weingand, and Charles E. Hughes Jr.; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Erma Webb, and many nieces and nephews.

She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many.

The family received friends on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, from 7-9-p.m. at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Mathews Baptist Church, with burial to follow in H.C. Smither Cemetery, Hudgins, Va.
