Lemonade Lecture

Around 20 young people participated in “Community Connection,” a Mathews Memorial Library Lemonade Lecture held recently as part of the library’s summer programming. Participants met representatives from Mathews Volunteer Fire Department, Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad, and Mathews Sheriff’s Office, who talked about their role in the community, said a press release. They were able to examine, up close and in small groups, the equipment used by these representatives to keep the community and its residents safe. Shown here is Kenny Garrett of MVFD demonstrating how a fire engine functions.
