Lee-Jackson students give thanks for newspapers in classroom

Audrey Mason of the West Mathews Community League, an annual supporter of the Gazette-Journal’s Newspapers in Education program, has shared with us letters of thanks received from students and faculty members at Lee-Jackson Elementary School.

NIE places newspapers in the classroom at teachers’ requests, and can be used in study of current events, math, English, and other subjects.

Here is a sampling of the students’ letters:

“I really want to thank you for donated the newspapers. It saves the schools a lot of money. It gives us something to work on that is interesting. I am glad to have it to do instead of worksheets.”   —Blaise Mullins.

“I really want to thank you for providing us with newspapers. I have learned quite a bit about the forties, fifties, etc. I enjoy looking at the sports & what we’ll have for lunch and breakfast.”   —Hannah Mathias.
