Lee-Jackson Reading Night to be held Tuesday

Lee-Jackson Elementary School will host its first Reading Night program at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The evening will include a book swap, door prizes, dinner, and more.

Parents and students will attend classes together and watch as teachers present lessons on good reading practices, said fourth grade teacher Lee Jackson. The purpose is to help parents see ways they can help with reading skills and comprehension at home. Parents and students will be able to switch classes to see more than one lesson.

Students may bring their gently-used books to swap with others, said Jackson, and the door prizes are baskets of books.

Check-in begins at 5:45 p.m. Dinner will consist of lasagna or pizza, with salad, breadsticks and cake, all at no charge, said Jackson. ...
