Lecture series continues virtually

The Mariners’ Museum and Park in Newport News continues its Evening Lecture Series in a virtual format in March and April.

At 7 o’clock tonight (Thursday, March 11) , the topic will be War in the Tropics, featuring authors Robert N. Macomber and John V. Quarstein. Quarstein, director emeritus of the USS Monitor Center, will host Macomber, author of the “Honor Series” novels and creator of the naval hero Peter Wake, for a discussion on the role of Florida and the surrounding Caribbean in the U.S. Civil War.

At 7 p.m. on April 8, New Zealand author Shona Riddell will present “Guiding Lights: The Extraordinary Lives of Lighthouse Women.”

For both lectures, viewers are welcome to send the speakers any comments or questions during the presentation, and they will be answered following the lecture. For more information and to register, visit MarinersMuseum.org/Virtual.

All virtual lectures are free and require advance registration.
