Atec Lawnmower and Small Engine Repair opened last week on Route 14 at North.

Owner Doug Walker of Gloucester said he offers a wide range of repair services for all types of lawn equipment and small engines, from riding mowers and generators to trimmers and chainsaws. He said he is a master certified electrician, with certifications from a broad range of companies, including Stihl, Echo, John Deere, Craftsman, and more.

With 25 years of experience in the field, Walker said he has worked throughout Tidewater, primarily as an independent contractor for commercial equipment repair shops.

When he heard that Mathews had few people providing small equipment repair, Walker said he decided to take a look, and the old Chief’s building at North seemed to provide the perfect opportunity for his new business. He said he offers pick-up and delivery service.
