Laurel Shelter Thrift Store moves to Hayes

After more than a decade in the Edgehill Shopping Center, the Laurel Shelter Thrift Store has moved to new, larger quarters at Hayes. Now located just behind the Salvation Army on Route 17, the store has about doubled its space to showcase items to help those in need.

Thrift Store manager Shelly Arangio said the mission of the Laurel Shelter, Inc., is to empower victims of domestic violence and sexual assault by providing direct victim services and to prevent violence by increasing awareness of the impact these victimizations have on all members of the community.

The thrift store, she said, was established to handle the large amount of items donated to the program.

According to Arangio, donations are accepted at the thrift store during normal operating hours—10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday—and may also be dropped in a bin at the rear of the building anytime. She said she will arrange for donations to be picked up, if they include pieces of furniture.
