LAURA EVANS JONES

Laura Evans Jones went to be with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 4, 2021. She was born on Dec. 9, 1936 in Victor, Colorado, to Leland and Florence Evans, but called San Diego, California, her home. After meeting her favorite Navy sailor Bob, she had the privilege to live in other wonderful homes including those in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, Maryland, Virginia and Ohio. Upon her return to Virginia, she became a resident of the Mennowood Retirement Community in Newport News, Virginia. Laura was deeply dedicated to her faith and was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church of Milford. Beyond her many years of service to her church families, Laura was known in her circles as an artist, musician, and animal lover. She enjoyed creating many types of crafts, cross-stitch, home decor, paintings and drawings for those she loved. She also enjoyed singing in many church choirs along her life’s journey.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert H. Jones, and her brother, Bill Evans. She is survived by her sons, Lee and Bob Jones and their wives Lisa and Cheryl Jones, respectively. She is also survived by three grandchildren including Daniel, Jayden and Olivia Jones; her nephews, Mark and John Evans and their families, and a host of much-loved extended family and friends. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In memory of our loved one, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org or the local Humane Society. Services under the direction of Hogg Funeral Home.
