Larry G. Johnson, age 72, of Jamaica, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015.

He retired from the U.S. Coast Guard with 22 years of service, and also retired from Riverside Tappahannock Hospital as the Director of Nutritional Services.

Larry was a member of the Chief Petty Officers Association and the Dietary Managers Association. He was predeceased by his father, Joe Gordon Johnson.

Survived by his wife, Suzanne S. Johnson; mother, Edith Johnson; children, Donna Lynn Neal (Jim), Scott Gordon Johnson (Tammy), Beth Permelia (John), Paul Germain and Stephanie Steidel; and a sister, Linda Collins. Larry was a very special Papa to his five grandchildren and 3½ great-grandchildren, and was also survived by his dog Mitzy.

He was also an avid fisherman and loved a good card game.

There was a celebration of Larry’s life on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 6-8 p.m. at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda.
