LARRY DEMPSEY WILLIAMS

Larry Dempsey Williams, 63, of Hayes, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017.  

Larry was born to the late George V. and Ethlyn O. Williams of Portsmouth, Virginia.

He married the love of his life, Robin Williams, on Oct. 16, 1976. His love for Robin was evident in how well he cared for her. Larry was the best daddy and granddaddy that his family could have ever asked for. He was loving, caring, giving, and absolutely fun to be with, even in his final moments.

Larry had a 35-year-long career with the Newport News Shipyard retiring as a foreman in X-36. The shipyard was a big part of who he was and he enjoyed sharing stories of his time there. 

Larry left behind a host of loved ones to keep his memory alive including his wife, Robin Williams; daughters, Chelly Péréѐ and Cyndy (Ryan) Somerset; grandsons, Lucas and Vance Péré; granddaughters, Amelia and Eleanor Somerset; brother, George (Jean) Williams, Jr.; sister, Barbara (Joe) Emert, and many nephews and nieces. 

A Celebration of Life service conducted by the Rev. Matt Hoover will be held at 2 noon Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
