Langley FCU awards $50,000 in grants

Langley Federal Credit Union has approved $50,000 in grants to six local organizations through its charitable giving program in the third quarter of the fiscal year.

Grants were awarded to Hampton University ($20,000), An Achievable Dream ($10,000), The Compassion Advocacy Network ($5,000), Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast ($5,000), Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads ($5,000) and the Thomas Nelson Community College Education Foundation ($5,000).

Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast is receiving a $5,000 grant from Langley FCU for the first time. The funds will be used to support its new virtual programming, “Fueling The Future.” The Girl Scout Leadership Experience program focuses on four key pillars of: life skills, STEM, the outdoors, and financial literacy.

Hampton University will receive $20,000 to create four $5,000 scholarships for students in the school of business for the 2020-2021 academic year.
