Landscape exhibit part of Arts on Main First Friday event

An exhibition of the works of local artists Carolyn Thompson Dudley and George Jennings will open at Arts on Main on Nov. 1 at the Gloucester gallery’s First Friday event from 6-8 p.m. The joint exhibit showcases landscapes of Gloucester and the surrounding area.

Dudley studied painting and printmaking at Virginia Commonwealth University. She continued her studies at Eastern Virginia Medical School where she received a master’s degree in Art Psychotherapy. After working six years in private psychiatric hospitals and marrying, she left this work to raise a family.

Besides holding numerous volunteer positions, Dudley has also been involved with the Gloucester Montessori School Board, the Gloucester Arts on Main Board, the Arts at Abingdon Committee, and, for the past 18 years, as vice president of the Cook Foundation. Recent awards include second place in the 2016 Arts on Main Juried Membership Show.
