Lamb Exterminating gets new equipment in fight against bed bugs

Lamb Exterminating has added new equipment to help eradicate bed bugs, which are a common problem in human environments.

Chris Fisher, customer service and sales representative for the Gloucester Point-based company, said that Lamb recently upgraded its bed bug arsenal to include two large propane-fueled heating units that can kill the wingless, lentil-shaped bugs.

About five years ago, Lamb Exterminating started bed bug heat treatments, Fisher said, using an electric heat unit that could tackle one room at a time. Now, the new units can each heat an entire floor of a house, he said, to a high enough temperature to kill the bed bugs that might be hiding in mattresses, furniture crevices, wood trim, and floors. The new units are supported by several large fans to help circulate the hot air.
