Lady Dukes take on Stafford Friday in state hockey semifinals

After winning the Conference 10 and 5A South Region titles, Gloucester High School field hockey players now have their sights set on earning their first state crown.

The Dukes are set to take on Stafford, the 5A North Region runners-up, in the state tournament semifinals Friday at 2 p.m. at the National Field Hockey Training Center in Virginia Beach.

In the other semifinal tomorrow, the 5A North champions from Mountain View will take on the 5A South runners-up from Deep Run. The winners from the semifinals matchups will meet in the final at 2 p.m. Saturday at the training center.

The Dukes have only allowed two goals all season and had most of their regular season games cut short by the mercy rule. They carry a 21-0 record into the state tournament.
