Lady Dukes shut out Phantoms, 8-0

The Gloucester High School girls’ varsity soccer team shut out the visiting Phoebus Phantoms 8-0 on Tuesday night for the team’s last regular season home game and Senior Night.

Each of the eight goals in the win were scored by different players, with Brooke Cheatham scoring the first in the ninth minute of the match. Senior Gwen Robins scored the second goal followed by Kessa Romero. The Dukes led 3-0 at the half.

Senior Tori Johnson kept the scoring going in the second half, followed by senior Brooklyn Splitt in the 60th minute. Senior Carli Walke scored the sixth goal of the game and her first goal of her soccer career by a shot on the ground past the keeper’s reach. Marranda Hansford obtained the seventh goal from a shot into the side netting from the 18’ yard box. Senior Christina Parnell finished the game with 26 seconds left off of a corner kick from Gwen Robins to close out the win.
