Lady Dukes score two wins

The Gloucester High School varsity girls’ soccer team scored two victories this week—a 3-0 shutout over Norview on Monday and a 4-1 win over the Denbigh Patriots on Tuesday.

Norview

In Monday’s game against the Norview Pilots, Alyssa Fulford scored the first goal of the match in the 20th minute of play. She attacked three Pilot defenders and, after dribbling past them, took a shot on frame and scored from inside the 18’.

The Dukes notched two more goals in the second half of the game. Gwen Robins scored in the 50th minute followed by Tori Johnson in the 70th minute off a corner kick by Gloucester. Norview was the team’s sixth win of the season.

Denbigh

The following night, the Gloucester girls notched their seventh win over Denbigh. Brooklynn Splitt scored the first goal of the game off a far throw in from Brooke Cheatham. Splitt had time to settle the ball in front of the frame and shoot over the keeper before the Patriots’ defense reacted. R...
