Lady Dukes’ record at 6-1

The Gloucester High School varsity softball team stands at 6-1 after five games since March 22.

The Dukes beat Phoebus, 23-2, Tuesday in their fourth consecutive win. The Tobin sisters came up big as Kayla Tobin (2-0) pitched a complete three-hitter, twin sister Jackie had two hits and two RBIs, and younger sister Laura had two hits, including a home run.

Bridget Motley was the offensive catalyst, going three-for-five with a double, a home run and seven RBIs. Malaika Rilee had three hits while Kristen Greene, Courtney Hall and Tori Mielnik contributed two each. Mielnik added a fourth inning, three-run home run.

Gloucester slipped by the Wilson Presidents, 4-1, on Monday. Kristen Greene (4-1) pitched a complete one-hitter while striking out 10 batters. She allowed only four base runners through six innings before running into trouble in the seventh.
