Lady Dukes notch three wins

The Gloucester High School varsity field hockey team improved to 11-0 with three recent wins, the most recent a four-goal shutout of Poquoson Tuesday on the Islanders’ artificial turf.

Karly Harwood scored twice in the win and had an assist. Cheyenne Hollandsworth had a goal and an assist and Molly Vaughan scored.

“Overall, I thought we played well. We did a good job on our press and forced a lot of mistakes, but we just didn’t capitalize on all of them. We didn’t give up a lot of shots; we just missed too many,” assessed Gloucester coach Mike Miller.

The Dukes traveled to the National Field Hockey Training Center in Virginia Beach on Friday where they beat Granby, 6-0. Goals came from Taylor Green, Kerigan Winfrey, Carli Walke, Farren Winter, Whitney Robins and Hollandsworth.

Allison Goodwin and Harwood each had two scoring assists and assists were provided by Elizabeth Thomas, Madi Hodges, Robins and Winfrey.
