Lady Dukes end season with loss to Salem

In the second round of the Region 5A tournament, the Gloucester High School girls’ varsity basketball team ended its season on the road last Thursday night with a loss to Salem High School, 78-8, at Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach.

Though the Lady Dukes suffered a tough loss against the Lady Sundevils, head coach Collin Brown said he is proud of his team’s accomplishments this season and is looking forward to a bright future for the GHS girls’ basketball program.“The ladies won a regional game for the first time in a lot of years,” said Brown. “They continued to push through and fought as hard as they could. My coaching staff really worked hard with the ladies. Our AD Mrs. [Kristy] Hunter works so hard and she gets things done. She is the best.

“We just got to go back to work as soon as we can, get them working on fundamentals and getting them in the weight room,” Brown said. GHS girls’ basketball “would love to be a year-round program and bring more interest to girl...
