Lady Dukes dominate Bethel, 20-0

The Gloucester High School varsity field hockey team enjoyed a few extra days off last week, as its Friday contest with Atlee was postponed due to a personal emergency for the opposing coach. With plenty of rest, the Lady Dukes dominated a Tuesday matchup with Bethel, shutting out the Bruins, 20-0.

Aubree Dorsee led the Lady Dukes with three goals in a game that saw 14 different players score. Meg Teagle, Christina Riva, Caroline Putnam and Anna Owens each added two goals while nine other players had one goal.

Putnam also added five assists to her tally, while Channy Johnson and Alexis Adams each notched three. Owens logged two assists while six other Lady Dukes had one assist of their own.

This game marked the eighth straight shutout for Gloucester, something head coach Mike Miller said he believes the girls work hard to achieve. “I think they take pride in rising to the occasion and getting shutouts,” he stated.
